
This stage of the process is often rushed through and rarely revisited. Without clear goals however it is impossible to build a plan to achieve them.
Ideally clients will spend some time thinking about their goals before visiting us. Often the reason they have made the decision to see a financial planner points toward some of their goals. In the interview process we work with clients to understand some of their less obvious goals as well as challenging those that are inconsistent with their situation.
Goal setting is an ongoing process, and as part of our ongoing advice process we adjust our advice as client goals change and evolve. These changes can be brought about by changes in life stages, or individual events.
